"JQJ213- Now With An Extra Cylinder!" (jqj213)

And how did it end up in the USA? I am positive it was never available here. But it was just registered and had valid, real, Florida plates. Additional pic below.
It doesn't look like it lives up to its name...

Rebadged Deawoo from Canada is my guess. no clue how it got registered here though.
EDIT: got it, from wiki: " The Magnus was also badge-engineered as the Suzuki Verona in the United States and Chevrolet Epica in other markets, including Canada "
So its a deawoo rebadged as a suzuki in america with chevy badges from the Canadian rebadged version. +100 Jalop points to the owner.

Or maybe from Mexico (saw a few in El Paso). Maybe they just stuck plates on it?

I don't really know there were so many crap Suzukis and Daewoos that I've lost track.

I've always been good at knowing cars but Suzuki and Daewoo confused the hell out of me

I'm pretty sure that if a car is identical mechanically to a car sold in the United States that it can be brought into the United States.
So if it was some shit Daewoo, or Suzuki Whatnot then it would be legal to bring over and stick plates on I'm pretty sure.

I want to give the owner more credit though … but they did buy a deawoo, so maybe I shouldn't.

According to Wikipedia , it's a car from the GM/Daewoo/Suzuki merger. It sold under many names around the world; here it was the Suzuki Verona. In Canada, it was called the Chevy Epica, which is what you see here. Someone likely brought it over here, which would've been easy since it's the same as a car we got here (albeit a car we only got a few dozen of).

The first thing that caught my attention were the FL plates.

Doubt it. And even if it were, that'd be the only redeeming feature. This was not a merger known for making quality automobiles.

Near a military base. I heard of a few stories of guys finding interesting ways of getting foreign cars into the USA.

Either There are really relaxed laws in regards to registering cars or there are a Hell of a lot of loopholes, but it seems you can register anything in Florida.
My Parents have a place in Fort Myers. I have seen several JDM vehicles , a Mercedes A Class (old model), A Seat Ibiza and two Ford Transits. My parents were even considering bringing cars over and sneaking them through. It wasn't worth the hassle and the issue of repairing and maintaining them.

Thankfully.
